Andrew, hailing from Australia, and Sarah, with roots in Alberta, crossed paths while working in a Melbourne restaurant. Their journey to Sarah's Aunt's place in Advocate Harbour, Nova Scotia, turned into an unexpected love affair with the area, sparking the dream of establishing a restaurant there.
Enthralled by the possibility, they acquired the century-old building that previously served as the local nurse practitioner's office and doctor's residence. In 2009, Wild Caraway came to life. Their culinary venture evolved, introducing elaborate five-course set menus by 2020, a canvas for their culinary ingenuity using locally foraged seasonal ingredients.
Bonding over their shared love for foraging, Andrew found his muse in the kitchen while Sarah crafted the restaurant's pottery, a testament to their joint creativity and passion. Their hard work is consistently earning them praise from customers and industry alike, including winning Taste of Nova Scotia's Restaurant of the Year in 2023 after earning the Prestige Award in 2012.
In March of 2023, Andrew and Sarah welcomed their daughter, Elora, adding one more to the Wild Caraway family!
